Unboxing: Strix Claw Gaming Mouse
The Strix Claw is a gaming mouse designed predominantly for first-person shooters. It's gaming-grade credentials include Japanese-made Omron switches on the top with on-the-fly DPI controls between them and three buttons on the thumb side; meanwhile the gaming-grade 5000DPI optical sensor has angle-snap-free movement. We've got one, and here's what you get in the box:
Here's how it looks with the other Strix hardware in the party: the Tactic Pro keyboard and Glide mouse pad.
In the package you get the Strix Claw wired mouse with a two meter USB cable, Quick Start guide, warranty info and software disk.
Despite what the name suggests, the Claw is suitable for finger, palm and claw-style grip. Inside, it features a PMW3310DH-AWQT gaming grade optical sensor with a native DPI of up to 5000. Keeping within the native DPI spec increases absolute accuracy with 1:1 movement, rather than using software tricks to jump beyond it.
While the single piece top and button cover is smooth, the sides use slightly textured paint to provide grip. The Strix team feel this is better than alternatives like rubber pads, which can slip when wet/sweaty and the potential grip area is greatly increased to suit a greater range of styles.
Out of the front, its fixed, braided cable is angled upwards to virtually eliminate cable drag, drawing the center of movement resistance back right under your hand, reducing finger stress. The DPI level LED looks like the talon marks of the Strix owl, and under the palm the orange logo 'breathes' gently when powered.
Pictured below is the Claw on the Strix Glide Control (black) and Glide Speed (orange) that use two slightly different materials with a different resistance, depending on your preference.
