32-inch glossy WOLED panels debut in the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG gaming monitors
Unlike some monitor manufacturers, we don’t play favorites when it comes to panel types and display coatings. The ROG lineup gives you a rich array of options whether you’re looking for an ultrafast TN, all-around excellent IPS, or cutting-edge OLED panel. That said, our first monitor with a glossy WOLED panel turned a lot of heads last year, and gamers were quick to ask us for additional options that provide a comparable experience. Today, we’re ready to fulfill that request. We’re debuting the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG, a pair of 32-inch gaming monitors featuring a WOLED panel and our new TrueBlack Glossy coating. This film is a zero-haze coating that keeps black hues intact in any lighting and delivers matte-like glare suppression, all without sacrificing clarity.
More options for team glossy
Matte coatings have their devotees, as they diffuse reflections for accurate colors and distraction-free viewing even in rooms with multiple light sources. But glossy coatings have their advantages, too. Even in spaces with higher ambient light levels, colors can appear more vibrant and blacks sharper and inkier when you use a monitor with a glossy coating.
Developed exclusively for ROG, the new TrueBlack Glossy coating on the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG goes above and beyond the experience offered by our first-gen WOLED panels while offering a measure of the reflection handling that you love from matte. The TrueBlack Glossy film pairs a zero-haze optical layer with an advanced anti-reflective stack. The zero-haze layer keeps black hues intact in any lighting, allowing the monitor to deliver deep blacks even in bright environments. For gamers seeking pristine image quality throughout the day, not just in the evening hours, these monitors are ideal picks. At the same time, the anti-reflective layer results in a 38% drop in ambient reflections compared to previous-gen glossy WOLED panels, making it easier to get distraction-free gaming in rooms with multiple light sources.
The WOLED panel underneath uses MLA+ tech to achieve excellent levels of brightness. We're targeting the requirements of the DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification for these displays. As OLED monitors, they excel when it comes to contrast and color, and their ultra-low 0.03ms (GTG) response time ensures outstanding motion clarity.
Frame Rate Boost takes another lap around the track
The ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG are also part of our dual-mode monitor family. These displays use Frame Rate Boost, an option readily available in the OSD and via hotkey, to let you flip between a monitor mode that prioritizes high resolution and another that prioritizes refresh rate. In both modes, you’ll enjoy G-SYNC Compatible or FreeSync Premium Pro tech for tear-free visuals at low latency.
The two monitors give you the same baseline resolution and feature set but differ when it comes to their refresh rate options. The XG32UCWMG lets you pick between 4K 165Hz and Full HD 330Hz modes, whereas the XG32UCWG gives the choice between 4K 240Hz and Full HD 480Hz. The higher refresh rate option will likely appeal in fast-paced competitive titles and racing games. If the display’s 32-inch diagonal feels a bit large for competitive play, activate the optional Aspect Ratio Control to replicate 24.5-inch or 27-inch imagery.
On the other hand, the higher resolution option will draw out the detail in games with luscious graphics for heightened immersion. The 4K mode also offers advantages for everyday computing, where a fast refresh rate is handy but the high resolution is game-changing. When you’re multitasking with several apps or browser windows, it’s incredibly valuable to have the extra screen real estate afforded by the 4K resolution.
Easy integration into your gaming setup
To make sure that you have all the desk space you need for your gaming gear, we’ve minimized the footprint of the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG. Compared to the stand of the ROG Swift OLED models, the stand on these new monitors is 60% smaller. Importantly, their depth is reduced by 30%, so they don’t protrude as far forward into the space you might prefer to leave open for your mousing hand.
Rich connectivity options make it easy to hook up the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG. They feature two HDMI 2.1 ports and one standard DisplayPort 1.4 port. For easy connections to today’s laptops, the monitors have a USB Type-C ready to accept a display signal via DP Alt Mode. On top, you’ll have a two-port USB Hub, giving you a convenient spot to connect peripherals.
The USB Type-C port also features 15W charging, so when you have your smartphone propped up in the stand’s handy phone holder, you can top off its battery without stretching another wire across your desk. The stand also boasts a compact footprint, freeing up valuable desk space for your mousepad.
These two monitors also feature a welcome quality-of-life addition for gamers with more than one PC in their setup. Through Auto KVM, they automatically switch the keyboard and mouse input to the connected device when you switch the monitor’s input source. For example, you might have your desktop PC connected via DisplayPort and your laptop connected via HDMI. Provided that your mouse and keyboard are hooked up through the display’s USB Hub, all you’ll have to do to switch control between your desktop and laptop is switch the monitor input.
Built-in defenses against burn-in
To ensure a great gaming experience for the long term, the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG offer robust protections against burn-in from the moment you pull them out of the box. It starts with cutting-edge cooling solutions that feature custom heatsinks and internal layouts meticulously designed for heat dissipation. But there’s lots more we do to safeguard your screen. Through ASUS OLED Care Pro, we equip you to protect your investment with easy-to-use software features, customizable dimming controls, and more.
Another key upgrade these monitors offer over our last-gen options is the Neo Proximity Sensor. This sensor detects your presence using time-of-flight calculations to make sure that the monitor only displays an image when you’re actively using it, saving energy and reducing the risk of burn-in. When you come back to your PC, your content will return right away. As with our earlier proximity sensing solutions, you’re able to adjust the detection distance to suit your personal preferences, and our latest optimizations allow the sensor to better account for users who get very still when they’re fully immersed in a game.
Distraction-free gaming with ROG OLED Anti-Flicker 2.0 tech
Some gaming monitors with VA or OLED panels display a distracting flickering behavior as the variable refresh rate (VRR) technology in the monitor responds to large swings in the current frame rate of the game that you’re playing. ROG OLED gaming monitors already go above and beyond to help you combat OLED flicker, but the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG go a step further with ROG OLED Anti-Flicker 2.0.
This new tech retains the refresh rate range adjustments of the first-gen solution while adding a new panel technology co-developed in a partnership with our panel supplier. ROG OLED Anti-Flicker 2.0 uses a luminance compensation algorithm to dynamically boost pixel brightness based on real-time detection of the panel’s refresh rate. This results in a more uniform visual image and up to 20% less perceived on-screen flicker, compared to models using previous-gen QD-OLED panels.
Smart controls complete the picture
Between Frame Rate Boost, OLED Care Pro, and a wealth of display settings, there are lot of reasons for you to dig around in your monitor’s on-screen display. To make it as quick and easy as possible for you to access the settings you need, we’ve included support for ASUS DisplayWidget Center. This handy Windows app allows you to customize settings normally found in your monitor’s OSD without so much as lifting your hands from your mouse and keyboard. Additionally, DisplayWidget Center will inform you if a firmware update is available, ensuring that you won’t miss out on key upgrades to your display experience.
ROG AI Gaming technology helps to round out the feature set of these two monitors, giving you access to Dynamic Shadow Boost and Dynamic Crosshair. Toggle Dynamic Shadow Boost, and it’ll automatically scan the scene and brighten overly dark areas without overexposing lighter ones, giving you a competitive advantage in low-light environments. Dynamic Crosshair adds a crosshair and dynamically adjusts its color to one that offers high contrast against the background for enhanced accuracy.
The ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG and ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG put a glossy WOLED panel on a big 32-inch screen
The ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG and XG32UCWMG boast a striking set of credentials. For bright and high-contrast images even in bright environments, they’re equipped with WOLED panels featuring our TrueBlack Glossy coating. Frame Rate Boost allows the monitor to turn on a dime and switch from high resolution mode to high refresh rate mode. And you’ll get a compact stand, versatile connectivity, our latest protections against burn-in and flicker, and ROG AI Gaming tech, too.
